Prof. Carmelo Chisari is a physician specializing in Neurology and a leading academic in the field of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. He received his medical degree from the University of Padua (Italy), then went on to specialize in Neurology at the University of Pisa. Subsequently, he undertook postdoctoral training in Neurorehabilitation and Neurophysiology at the Department of Neuroscience, University of Pisa.

Currently, Prof. Chisari holds the position of Associate Professor of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Pisa (Italy), where he is responsible for teaching this discipline in Degree in Physiotherapy.

On the clinical front, Prof. Chisari is director of the Departmental Operational Section of Neurorehabilitation of the Azienda Ospedaliero-Universitaria Pisana, located in Italy. In this capacity, he coordinates a multidisciplinary team dedicated to the rehabilitation of patients with neurological disorders.

His research activity is mainly focused on neurorehabilitation, with emphasis on the use of innovative technologies and neurophysiology applied to rehabilitation. He has over 140 scientific publications and more than 3,000 citations to his credit.

Prof. Chisari is actively involved in collaborative research projects, such as the Laboratory for the Analysis and Treatment of Neuromotor Disorders, born from the collaboration between the Translational Neural Engineering Area of the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna and the Department of Neurorehabilitation of the Azienda Ospedaliero-Universitaria of Pisa. He also participates in dissemination initiatives, offering his contribution as an expert in events and interviews regarding post-stroke spasticity and related rehabilitation therapies.
